Winchester Women golfers triumph
Moya Abbott of Royal Winchester Golf Club won a sudden death play off at the 19th hole on Saturday to send the team through to the semi finals of the Mail on Sunday Women’s Golf Classic Foursomes.
They beat Royal Norwich at Marriott Worsley Park, near Manchester, to earn a place in the classic finals next month in El Rompido. The other three teams to go through are Bondhay, Stirling and Thorndon Park.
Winchester Men’s Hockey Club drew their opening match of the season in the South Hockey League Premier Division Two with Gore Court 3-3.
In soccer there were Hampshire Intermediate Cup 2nd Round wins for Colden Common, 7-3 at home to Solent WTL, and Otterbourne, 2-0 at home to Fleet Spurs Res. Meanwhile in the Puma Hampshire Premier League, Winchester Castle lost 2-1 at Hamble.
