Free film shows at unusual Winchester venues
Cinema fans can book for free screenings at Winchester Film Festival 2009 which have been announced by the University of Winchester.
The festival offers a series of screenings and events with the assistance of local musicians, performing arts groups and local businesses between October 9-11.
Films and venues include:
Friday October 9: Frankie & Johnny at Buddy’s Diner (2pm), The Great Escape at The Westgate Arch (7pm), 24 hour party people at The Railway Inn (7pm).
Saturday October 10: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit at The Discovery Centre (11am), SonicVision at Intech Science Centre and Planetarium (4pm), Babette’s Feast at Winchester Cathedral (8pm), The Haunting at Avington Park (8pm).
Sunday October 11: Jazz on a Summers Day at The Slug and Lettuce (11am), High School Musical at The Vault at the University of Winchester (12noon), Chocolat at Brasserie Blanc (4pm), Laagan at Rimjhim Restaurant (5pm).
Each mainstream film will be preceded by a student film shortlisted from the Winchester Film Festival Competition 2009.
The University will be hosting a lecture entitled ‘Workshop: The Film Food Chain’ at the Stripe on Sunday October 11 at 2pm.
