Buried treasure on show in Winchester
People have found more than 16,000 archaeological treasures in Hampshire in the past 10 years and some are now on show in Winchester Guildhall foyer.
The artefacts displayed celebrate the national Portable Antiquities Scheme which began working in the county in 1999.
The voluntary scheme records archaeological objects found by the public in England and Wales, often by metal-detector users, but also walkers and gardeners.
The finds on display include some that were hoarded and buried as well as more everyday objects and include Bronze Age axes to medieval rings.
In the past year 2,000 finds have been logged in Hampshire.
The exhibition continues until September 30.
